Eleventh Steering Committee Meeting of the INFIRE project

The eleventh Steering Committee meeting within the frame of the INFIRE project (INnovative FInancing solutions for climate planning of REsilient and carbon neutral living areas) was organised in Zagreb, Croatia, on 1-2 July 2026. Partners from all participating project regions attended, both in-person and online, including a representative of the Interreg Euro-MED Joint Secretariat.

The first day of the event started with a welcoming speech from the project’s lead partner – REGEA. The current status of the project was presented, followed by the management and reporting status. The event continued with a discussion on key activities and deliverables related to the roadmaps for the enhancement of financing policies for Climate Adaptation and Carbon Neutrality (CACN) in the regions, as well as the Joint Strategy of innovative financing schemes.

During the next session, each project partner presented the status of the planned CACN measures to be implemented in each pilot region.

The first working day concluded with presentations on pilot actions from different partner regions, including key activities, methodologies and next steps in their implementations. The Bulgarian partner, Regional Energy Agency of Pazardjik (REAP), presented the ongoing activities in their pilot region, which are home visits to vulnerable households and small workshops with citizens, affected by energy poverty. To support these activities, the INFIRE Energy Box was created to serve as a practical engagement tool, which includes 2 LED light bulbs, a small fan, a smart plug for measuring electricity consumption, as well as a project leaflet and a handbook with tips on reducing energy consumption and tackling summer heat. As a result of these meetings, around 50 vulnerable households have already been reached within the Peshtera Municipality. The activities will continue raising awareness on topics related to improving energy efficiency and reducing energy poverty over the next months.

The second day of the event continued with an overview of the concrete CACN solutions applicable in the Euro-MED living areas.

The meeting followed with a discussion regarding the INFIRE knowledge transfer and it’s contribution to the Green Living Areas mission, which includes a Transfer kit and dissemination activities.

The event concluded with a planning session of the next INFIRE project meetings, as well as the Final Dissemination conference.
